Should I buy a new or used static caravan?
Used is usually the better financial choice — the steepest depreciation happens in the first few years, so a well-kept used van costs far less for the same weekly experience. New only wins if you value the warranty, modern specification and a fresh start, and you plan to keep it long enough to spread that cost. Always check the park’s rules on the age of caravans before buying used.

Before you fall for any used caravan, check the park’s stance on caravan age. Many parks refuse (or heavily restrict) caravans above a certain age, and some enforce “all new” policies on their ownership plots. A great bargain on a fifteen-year-old van is worthless if no park near you will accept it.

For most first-time buyers, a lightly used caravan on a good plot beats a new caravan on the same budget — especially if you plan a five-year ownership before selling on. Buy new when specification or warranty genuinely matters to you, or when the park you want insists.
